Gainesville, Florida (June 13-17, 2016)

Trip details

Gainesville Outreach is a weeklong mission trip to the city of Gainesville, hosted at our Gainesville Greenhouse Church site. Established in 1998, youth from all over Gainesville and Florida unite to learn, and serve the community. Since its inception, we have served thousands of people, performed service projects for Ronald McDonald house, local low-income neighborhoods, St. Francis House homeless shelter and many elderly in the city. It is our endeavor to teach students to appreciate the diversity here in the city.

The students get a variety of teachings and trainings throughout the week. The trainings include things such as how to share your faith, prayers, and leading kids church. Led by adults and college students, we visit many neighborhoods. We eat and share some of our meals in the neighborhood, run a "sidewalk VBS" for the kids, and get to know people who live there. We feel we have so much more to learn there then we have to give, so we encourage students to give their time and attention and see what happens! Many students come back as leaders because it is such an enriching experience. We aim to equip these students to live on missions everyday, no matter their context.
