Merger FAQs

FAQS

When is the merger official?

The merger is now official. We’re currently undergoing major renovations to our new building, and once they’re complete, we will move in shortly afterward.

When will we start meeting in fort lauderdale?

We’ll have a more precise timeline once major projects—like A/C installation and bathroom updates—are underway. We currently anticipate completion around September or October and will share updates with the church as we receive them.

Will the church still be called Greenhouse?

Yes. First Christian Church of Fort Lauderdale has changed its name multiple times throughout its faithful and fruitful 100+ year history. Each name change preceded a move of God through the church, and this merger we feel is no different, so the church will now adopt our name, Greenhouse Church South Florida.

Will Greenhouse Change Denominations?

No, Greenhouse is and will continue to be a sovereign Church. We hold in high regard both the teachings of the Bible and the leadings of the Holy Spirit. We are under the network of the Assemblies of God but hold our own unique views, culture and identity.

Can i donate to the building project?

Yes! You can give toward the building project by selecting “Building Fund” on our e-giving platform.

Will there be opportunities to help with the church move?

Absolutely. As we approach the move-in date, we will schedule “Work Days” where volunteers can help with tasks like moving equipment, cleaning pews, and more. Stay tuned to our website and social media for details.

Will greenhouse change how they do service?

We strive to always be led by the Holy Spirit, open to any changes. That being said, we are not anticipating any major changes to how we do service in the foreseeable future, apart from location. The services will now take place in a beautiful sanctuary.

Is this the end to greenhouse being out west?

Not at all! We plan to maintain our office HUB in Tamarac and hope to establish a campus further west in the future. While our Sunday (macro) gatherings are moving to Fort Lauderdale, our microchurches remain geographically located close to our congregants all throughout South Florida, and will continue meeting as usual—bringing community and discipleship into the neighborhoods where our church family lives.

Fort Lauderdale is a bit far for me; Can you recommend another church near western?

While we realize this move will dictate further travel for some (and less travel for others), we are asking all members of our church family to prayerfully consider giving it a try, at least for a few months. Statistics show that after leaving a church, churchgoers will typically take 9-18 months trying to find another church body that they feel comfortable plugging into. So, for the spiritual thriving of our members, we ask that you give the longer drive a try before thinking about looking for other churches. Fort Lauderdale has much to offer - from beaches to restaurants to attractions, Sunday can now become a full-day experience worthy of the drive! If after giving it a try, you still feel the need to look for other churches, we will be glad to help you plug into another church near you.
