His Heart. His House. Generosity Initiative
For the past 10 years and counting, we have been having Sunday services at Western High school—loving Jesus, making disciples, giving to missions, and trying follow His lead. About 3 years ago, we sensed a nudge from God to begin looking for a building, but to no avail. However, we still felt God nudging us to get ready. Then, a simple conversation turned into an 18-month journey, culminating in the adoption of some amazing, faithful saints, and the GIFT of a building!
First Christian Church of Fort Lauderdale has a rich and storied history of faithful and fruitful ministry here in South Florida for over 114 years. Over this span of time, they have changed names multiple times throughout their history. Each name change preceded a move of God through the church, and this merger we feel is no different. We are just the next custodians OR stewards of what GOD wants to do—and it is incumbent on us US to get this place ready for amazing things God wants to do in & through this space!
It all starts with HIS HEART—a place where the lost are found, disciples are made, where we remember the poor, and where missionaries, pastors & ministry leaders are raised up & sent out–from South Florida to the nations!
Right now, this building is being used ALL WEEK LONG for Kingdom activity. A Spanish-language congregation, a HUB of hope for the recovery community (recovery Bible study, AA, NA, CA groups). A street evangelism group. All working to establish the Kingdom, using this space as a launching pad for these works.
AND, after 100+ years of faithful & fruitful ministry, this beautiful space needs some love (and in some places, significant renovations) to KEEP this life-giving ministry happening IN this space and FROM this space – for His glory, for generations to come!
It’s HIS HEART …. And... it’s HIS HOUSE. We are simply the next stewards of this beautiful and historic space. So as we’ve begun prayerfully dreaming, God has been dropping vision in OUR hearts for HIS House…
